Dear Living Water Friends and Family,

One of my favorite places to go fishing (when the snakes aren’t thick) is on the Rio Grande, east of La Jara and down into New Mexico. I really enjoy the solitude of the canyons and once in awhile I’ll actually catch a fish. When you are down near the river the canyon walls are 50, 100 or 200 feet high, so you don’t have a lot of perspective on where you are. When you walk the canyons far enough the river runs right up against the canyon walls and to move forward you either have to wade the river or climb out of the canyon, and once you get back on top you can see for long distances. Sometimes after walking and fishing for hours, I’ve climbed out of the canyon and realized that I’d misperceived my location – I hadn’t traveled nearly as far as I thought I did.

Perspective is important when it comes to living our lives by faith. A faith perspective will see things differently than a circumstantial perspective. And if you are like me, you know that it’s easy to live by what we perceive is happening and not by faith. A great biblical example of both a circumstantial perspective and a faith perspective comes from Elisha’s time. During Elisha’s ministry as a prophet, the King of Syria was at war with the King of Israel. At some point the King of Syria realized that Elisha, the prophet of God, was helping the Israelites by notifying them of where the Syrian army was going to be. So he made up his mind that he was going to kill Elisha. So the King of Syria was told, “Behold, he is in Dothan. So he sent horses and chariots and a great army, and they came by night and surrounded the city.  When the servant of the man of God (Elisha’s servant) rose early in the morning and went out, behold an army with horses and chariots was all around the city. And the servant said, “Alas my master! What shall we do? He said, ‘Do not be afraid, for those who are with you are more than those who are with them.’ Then Elisha prayed and aid, ‘O LORD, please open his eyes that he may see.’ So the LORD opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw, and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha” (2nd Kings 6:13-17).

Elisha saw the same army of Syrians that his servant did, was in the same circumstance, but because he was living by faith he wasn’t consumed by fear. The vision of God’s angelic army was a mind blowing perspective for the servant of Elisha. He didn’t realize the extent that God was at work nor did he perceive God’s presence with them, until he was given the grace to see the chariots of fire. He didn’t have the right perspective.  He needed to live by faith in God’s word, as Elisha was.

You and I shouldn’t expect to see angels, such visions are rare and most Christians live full lives without realizing they were in the presence of angels. But we are called to live by faith. We are called to believe that God is at work in our midst. I read this morning in Colossians that “the word of truth, the gospel… throughout the whole world is bearing fruit and increasing” (Colossians 1:5-6). Do we believe that God is still working today?  Do we believe that God is in the “business” of saving people and that he is actively working around us (even in the San Luis Valley!)? We are called to serve and love people by faith, and are sent to proclaim the gospel by faith, even when we don’t see evidence or even when our circumstances aren’t encouraging. Living Water should boldly attempt to introduce people to Christ. Living Water should boldly start new ministries that bless those in need. Living Water should in faith reach out to the needy in this community in Jesus’ name, and by faith that God is still mighty to save, we should share the gospel. If we gauge or evaluate things empirically (through our senses) or through our feelings or emotional perceptions we will likely not be in accord with what Jesus is doing. We are called to step out in faith, believing what God has said more than we believe our eyes. Are you living by faith in God today?  How might you need to trust God more than you trust your current perspective?

Maybe you aren’t trusting that he is for you and not against you? And therefore are not confessing his name in public?  Maybe you are thinking that he doesn’t care (based on your circumstances) rather than what he’s said about you in his Word? And therefore aren’t giving him the worship he deserves?  Maybe you believe that he can’t use you to be a vehicle of the gospel to your neighbors or co-workers? And therefore you aren’t looking for opportunities to help people discover Jesus? Maybe you’ve talked yourself into believing that your marriage doesn’t have a future because of circumstances or miscommunication? And therefore aren’t praying or depending on God anymore?

What does the Bible say? What has God spoken? What has God promised? How might looking at things from the vantage point of the word of God change your behavior or your decisions?  Could it be that it’s time to climb out of the canyon and take on an Elisha perspective?  Elisha knew that he was in God’s care even before he saw the angelic army with his physical eyes, so he lived by faith and carried out his mission. Are you living as a Christian today, living by faith, living in dependance upon the Spirit of God or have you forgotten that God is with us?

SUMMER SERMON SERIES

We start our summer sermon series on Sunday, May 9: The Book of Daniel; Standing Strong in the Winds of Change. The world continues to shake and shift. Nations and rulers are falling and rising.  Historic changes and new systems keep coming at us with lightning speed. Even in our rural area life is changing. How will we stand in the midst of such unsettled times?  Daniel lived from biblical principles as the institutions and structures of his day were being radically changed; he stood for the Lord no matter what came his way.  As we study Daniel’s life and times, may we become those who understand our times and make our stand for Christ.

WORSHIP SERVICE UPDATE

  • We’ll be handing out bulletins again. If you have a ministry announcement or an event that you want your church family to know about please send it to Janice by Wednesday afternoon at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.  We ask that you make the announcement concise and be sure give us the what, when and where of your activity!
  • For the time being we’ll continue to receive offerings in the boxes in the foyer rather than pass the offering plate (you can also drop it off in the church mailbox on the street, or send it to 2910 Clark Street or use our text to give app).
  • Also for the near future we’ll continue to ask you to receive communion at the tables rather than pass communion plates. We realize that sometimes its difficult for some to move to the tables and sometimes the double stacked cups stick together – if you need assistance ask one of the Deacons on duty.
  • Worship service times continue at 9:00 and 10:45 A.M.  We are studying the possibility of having new worship service times in the Fall, in connection with the opening off the Christian Ed building and expanded adult classes.

LATIN NIGHT May 21

Living Water’s Mission Board and Family Team are planning a fun night of fellowship, dinner and some dancing lessons on Friday, May 21. Proceeds will go towards Guatemala Mission Team projects. More information to come!

Prayer & Planning

In my Bible reading this morning I was in the middle part of 1st Chronicles where King Saul was specifically called out for not taking the time to inquire of the Lord in his decisions and planning and then a few chapters later King David is repeatedly shown intentionally seeking out the Lord’s direction and will. The obvious take away for me was that as a steward leader of Jesus’ church I need to keep asking the Lord for his direction and for divine wisdom.  I can’t see the future and as far as I know we don’t have anyone in our church who can see the future, but Jesus is the Lord of history – how foolish we would be if we didn’t seek the Lord!  Then, while I was eating breakfast I had my face in a pastoral leadership book (Sticky Teams by Larry Osborn) and the author gave the leadership axiom, “Plan in Pencil,” and he says this:  “Rigid plans, guidelines and regulations work fin in a stable environment. But if there is anything we know about the future, it won’t be anything like what we expected.” Wow! That’s been so true over the last year, hasn’t it?  And frankly that has been so true since I came to Living Water in 2004. Every year there are unexpected changes and every year we face some kind decision forced upon us because of growth.  Our church has had to change so much!  It’s been great, and it’s been hard!  But by God’s grace I think we’ve made a lot of right calls and decisions.  I’ve been so proud of this congregation’s willingness to change and adapt and be flexible with adding services or changing worship times or bringing on new staff.  This congregation has again and again prioritized mission and ministry over personal preference and comfort. Well guess what? It’s time to seek the Lord again and its time to plan.  As we are just a few months away from the new building opening, we really need to ask the Lord what needs to be done.  Will we see a lot of new people join our church family?  Will we need to create new structures and new ministries?  New job descriptions?  What new opportunities will we have to share the gospel?  What new groups of people can we ministry too?  Would it be wise to change our worship service times?  As our pastoral staff and Elder Board can tell you, the last few months I’ve been bombarding them with ideas and thoughts about how to prepare for the future.  I really, really want to be ready for growth.  I really, really don’t want to get caught off guard by unforeseen issues.  Even yesterday some of us pastors met and were kicking around ideas for how to restructure our children’s ministry for maximum effectiveness.  We are furiously writing out plans (which I think is wise and good stewardship practice).  What I needed to hear today was that it’s ok if our plans are in pencil.  What we’ve all learned this last year is that we don’t know what to expect and we don’t know what’s going to happen and that a “set in stone” plan for the coming 6 months and the new building’s opening is foolishness.  But what I really, really want to know is if God finds our plans pleasing and good or if we should pull out the eraser.  Will you join me in following King David’s example and constantly seeking the Lord and inquiring of him about what is best?  I’ll try to keep you informed about decisions that we are facing as we move into the Fall.  Please continue to pray for the successful completion of the building project and that it would come in under budget.  Pray for the fund-raising and that the Lord would provide us the ability to be debt free in the near future.  Pray for the ongoing generosity of our congregation in all matters financial.  Please pray for the safety of the workers.  Pray for the Facility and Finance Team that they could make good decisions.  Pray for wisdom for the Elder Board and Pastoral Staff and for protection from the enemies attacks.  Pray for us to make the right decisions regarding administration, policies, programming and ministry plans.  Pray for our congregation that our love for Jesus would grow and grow!  Please pray that we would be a church that gets better and better at making disciples for the Lord.  Pray that when the time comes for us to receive new people into our church that our members wouldn’t be too busy to love them and bless them. Pray that our church would have a deep desire to see lives transformed and to see Jesus glorified.

Here’s some of what’s happening at Living Water in the near future…

Good Morning Church Family and Friends

We pastors met yesterday and talked about the difference between the living church and church structures. Structures and systems (buildings, by-laws, programs and ministries) are put in place for the sake of the mission of the church and for the people of the church.  The church doesn’t exist for the sake of structures and systems but for Jesus and his people. Think about it this way: As a gardener puts up a trellis to support the vine, we put structures and systems in place to support people and their relationship with God. The vine’s health and thriving is the point of the trellis. The grape vine doesn’t exist for the trellis but the trellis exists for the vine and the vinedresser’s purpose of experiencing a harvest. A strong trellis needs to be strong once the vine starts to bear grapes.  As church leaders we are will continue to develop our systems and structures but we dare not lose sight of the purpose. We aren’t in the business of making a bigger bureaucracy. We aren’t shooting for a bigger campus as an end goal. Success for a church isn’t the production of a policy manual (thank God!) or a beautiful trellis. It’s all about the vine. It’s all about the people of Jesus becoming like Jesus.  It’s about people like you learning to follow Jesus.  It’s about the people of Jesus bearing fruit for God’s glory.  It’s about disciples making disciples. As time goes on we will continually go to work on the trellis, seeking to make it stronger and better suited to producing a harvest – we will continually seek to upgrade and adapt our programs and ministries and systems and structures to create an environment and setting for people to hear the gospel and grow in their relationship with Christ. What I want to say to you is that as we see a new building come on line, as we see software more fully implemented and new classes or groups start, it won’t matter if people don’t engage (what good is a trellis without a vine?).  We can set the table and have the richest of food, but if nobody sits down to eat, it’s all for not.  You are the church. You are the vine. Your transformation into the image of Christ is the goal. As pastors we want to build a trellis so to speak, that does an excellent job at helping the vine be as productive as possible. To this could be added the additional metaphor of environment (sun and soil and water) – we want to have a church that is rich in fellowship, teaching, serving, worship and gospel proclamation so that you can become a healthy disciple (which Pastor Bo defined for us as being a family member Mark 3:31-35; a learner Matthew 11:28-29; a servant Luke 22:25-27; a worshiper John 4:23-24; and a missionary Matthew 28:19-20). To do so, we might need to change some of our systems or our practices (without changing the truth or watering down the gospel). Maybe we are offering classes or groups that aren’t meeting you where you are or aren’t at the times that work for your schedule.  Let us know and we can seek to bring some options. But my brother and sister, are you putting yourself into a position to grow? Are you putting yourself in a position to learn? Are you organizing your life to know Jesus more?  Are you intent upon learning how to serve Jesus?  Jesus’ command to teach people his commands assumes that there are people who want to learn and want to follow the Lord. We as pastors are trusting that the Spirit of God is moving in people’s lives today, calling them to himself. If the Spirit of Jesus is moving in your life and calling you to growth, what needs to change in your life?  For most people in this fast paced, over committed world, it means saying no to certain things so that you can have the space in your life to draw near to God. It means prioritizing practices that lead to knowing God, and learning his ways. Are you on the same spiritual level you were a few years ago? Why or why not? Are you more like Jesus today that you were five years ago?  God is at work in your life and there are a lot of things that contribute in his providence to your transformation (including suffering and trials) but you play a key role in your sanctification and your growth into Christ-likeness. Will you put yourself into the right environment to grow and place around yourself the right structures that lead to bearing fruit? The alternative is to be conformed to the world. What will become of you over the remainder of 2021?

Here’s a quick update on what’s happening at the church in the near future…

Good Morning Church!

I was shocked at the weather forecast – no snow predicted on Resurrection Sunday!  70 degrees!  Looks like its going to be a great day without having to wear snowsuits and MAYBE  no wind – Yes, miracles still happen! Ha! Keep praying for the people you’ve invited to join you at services – nothing is impossible for God! They will be invited to give their lives to the Lord – pray that the Holy Spirit convicts people of their need for the salvation that Jesus offers and that people would enter life – nothing is impossible for God!

May our majestic Lord be exalted in our sight and in the eyes of the world, and may we all come further under his loving and glorious reign.

Hi Church!

I hope your heart is with the Lord and you are walking with him today.

May this season be filled with people returning to the Lord and his worship and may this be a time when many come under his reign as they hear and respond to the gospel.

One of the ways you might start a God conversation at work, or school or with family is to ask what people are doing for Easter or what their Easter traditions are. You might find that some consider themselves Christians but haven’t attended a church service in years and have drifted from worshiping Jesus. You might find some who usually attend a service but aren’t planning to this year because of Covid (please tell them about our Live Stream option – info is at the end of this email). Perhaps some will say they never do anything for Easter but ask you about your plans or they might ask you what you believe. Maybe they know you are a Christian but the subject has never come up and you initiating a conversation might open the door for you to tell them about the hope that you have. If the Spirit leads, feel free to invite folks to our Easter Worship Services. Keep praying and looking for opportunities!  God can use you to bring people to himself!

Why are we surprised?

It was about a year ago that our lives started to be affected by the Covid-19 virus. It was a year ago today that the National Basketball Association made news by stopping in progress games and shutting down their league. Politicians started giving emergency declarations.  Shut downs began.  And well, you know the rest of the story… It’s been an incredibly difficult and challenging year!  And as Christians we continue to be discouraged by immorality exhibited and pursued by our national and state leadership. Such things as same sex marriage being made legal and the current push for transgender rights (including the ability of biological males to compete against females in sports) are just the latest way that our society, has moved away from biblical ethics. The current presidential administration is working hard to pass the Equality Act, which while couched in justice and equal rights terms, is just a logical extension of a worldview that long ago rejected biblical truth. It is very discouraging and disappointing to see our society pushing for it’s own ruin in the name of progress.

I don’t know why, but sometimes I find myself surprised by the state of the world. But why should I be shocked when human plans don’t take into account God and his will?  Why do I find anger rising in my mind when I know that lost people are just doing the best they can to make sense of a world and problems they don’t understand?  Why am I caught flat footed and off guard when sinners end up sinning?  Why do I expect lost people to live like saints?  Do I mentally choose to forget that there is a spiritual war taking place and that we have an enemy who lives to keep people in darkness?

While God created a good world, sin has made a mess of it and as a result Jesus said, “In the world you will have tribulation” (John 16:33).  Why should we live like there is no threat from virus or disease?  Why are we surprised that people don’t have our values?  We live among the same lost people that the Apostle Paul and the Apostle Peter did 2,000 years ago, it’s just that their idols have different names.  Like Moses some 3,400 years ago and Isaiah some 2,700 years ago, we live with governments and organizations that are not seeking to exalt the Kingdom of God.  The Bible tells the story of how evil and terrible things become when God is rejected.  Why do we sometimes get lulled into thinking that the United States of America is the promised land?  Don’t we realize that for many in our country, when they call themselves Christians, it just means to them that they were born in America?  That they have no relationship with God?  We’ve known for a long time that the USA isn’t a Christian nation (though built on Christian values and truths), why are we surprised when it doesn’t act like one?

While the Bible tells us that the trials and tribulations we are seeing are normal, it also tells us that God is at work redeeming the world (Romans 8:18-23) and that he will succeed one day in making “all things new.”  We have a living hope in the soon return of the Lord Jesus.  But while we wait, let’s not sit back but rather go into the world and participate in Jesus’ mission.  He calls us to be salt and light, so let’s do his will in the San Luis Valley, let’s do that in Colorado. Let’s speak the truth in love and seek to change things for the betterment of people and the glory of God.  What would be really, really surprising if Christians, having grasped God’s teaching about the state of the world, and having heard that they have been sent by Jesus into the world to witness for him and his kingdom, sat back and thought that things would change or that better days would come without their involvement.

On How to Live During a Revolution

So the title of this devotional is bit dramatic, but it seems to me that our country is truly undergoing a radical revolution of beliefs, values and practices. It seems like everything is being questioned and evaluated.  Schools, buildings and streets around the nation are getting new names and famous brands such as the Washington Redskins, Aunt Jemima, Mr. Potato Head, Dr. Suess books, and dozens of other longstanding “institutions” are being rebranded and repackaged to avoid any offense. We live in such a wild time that even maleness and femaleness seem to be under attack!  I suppose that I like calling what’s happening a revolution as people are truly trying to bring about a new culture and a new world. There might be some good that is happening. If the sin of racism is less, great! If there is less sexual violence in our culture, wonderful! But revolution is a big stick that isn’t very precise.  It’s hard to be precise and just when you are trying to purge everything, it’s hard to see any good in what has been accomplished in the past or remember any positive impact. When you are on the warpath, everything looks like a target.

As a byproduct, if you love to criticize and tear down others it’s a golden age! So many mass media sites, personal blogs and vlogs, and social media pages seem to thrive on “exposing” what’s wrong (never mind if its libel or slander merely gossip as long as people continue to like your page!). Negativity and attack is selling like never before. But this can only go on for so long.  The pendulum is bound to swing back.

What an opportunity for Christians!  If we intentionally decide to live in the ways of Jesus we will be so distinctive and we will have so many chances to share the gospel.  Just look at this short list of ways that Christians are supposed to be distinct.  What a time for us to shine in the darkness by rejecting the cultural trend and living by God’s word!

“Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them” (Romans 12:14).

“If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all” (Romans 12:18).

“To the contrary, if your enemy is hungry feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink” (Romans 12:20).

“You shall love your neighbor as yourself. Love does no wrong to a neighbor” (Romans 13:9-10).

God’s word calls us to bless when we are cursed.  Speak well of others when they tear you apart (even on social media).  Do good to those who are seeking to harm you.  Seek peace with those who are trying to go to war with you.  (Who can live like this?  Those who have faith in the God who rules over all.  Those who follow a Lord who was “cancelled” for righteousness sake, but who came back from the dead.  Those who believe that God can rescue and bless and reward even when the “powers that be” go on the warpath.  Those that believe that “if God is for us, who can be against us?” can freely choose to live like no others.).

We might look back and appreciate some of what’s happening in this revolution. Maybe we will see this as a time when some idols fell or wicked practices ended.  But it seems like this time may become a time when Christians are on the chopping block, when our values are on the cancellation list.  How should we respond?   We should respond as Jesus would.  We should respond virtuously and with the gospel.  When we have can’t be silent about a social issue or must fight against evil, we go to the appropriate authorities in a godly and honorable way and speak the truth in love. When we have to stand against evil we don’t become evil in our ways but in all our behaviors and in all our words we remember that we are ambassadors for Jesus.  We could win a battle here and there by being harsh or meanspirited or by using worldly tactics, but do such means win a hearing for the gospel among the lost?  Our mission is to make disciples, not enemies.  We choose to live such good lives among the pagans, that though they accuse us of doing wrong, they will be silenced by the weight of our obviously good lifestyles.  Their slander won’t hold much ground among those who have only experienced our love, generosity, kindness and mercy.  In our politics let us always be the people who humbly treat the “other side” with goodness and grace, concerned about their welfare, giving them the benefit of the doubt and seeing the best in them (in other words treat them as you would want to be treated). When we have to call out evil or stand against sin, let us do so as those who are not “holier than thou” but as those who have received forgiveness instead of what we deserved; as those who have been shown mercy, let us be merciful to others.

Sent to the SLV

Over the last few months I’ve been planning for the future work of our church. I’m finishing up a class on church revitalization and have found that the biggest issue that churches have is that over time they lose their sense of mission. Lately I’ve been working on restating our mission statement as a way to clarify the mandate God has given us.

In John 20:19-21 a great moment is recalled: “On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jewish leaders, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” After he said this, he showed them his hands and side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord. Again Jesus said, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.”

It’s a powerful, joyful scene because the crucified and buried Jesus shows up behind their locked doors of fear – he’s alive! And because he’s alive the standard Hebrew greeting of “peace” or shalom is more than a kind wish for blessing but the announcement of true peace with God and abundant life – peace to you who have believed in me! I’m alive so in me you have found abundant, forever life!

In terms of our mission as a church his words are clear as to why we exist: “As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.”

What’s our mission? What’s our mandate? What have we been commanded to do? To what work has God entrusted us?

As disciples of Jesus, we as a church are sent by God to connect the lost people of the SLV to Christ and his Kingdom. Our mission is broader than the SLV of course – it’s not just the lost, hurting, suffering, lonely, isolated, living without purpose, looking for love in all the wrong places people of the SLV that need to be redeemed - we are sent as Jesus’ agents and ambassadors to teach, serve and love people wherever we go (to the ends of the earth) – but our primary mission is to serve our neighbors and to love and reach the generations in this place. We are sent to see their lives transformed, their brokenness healed, their future restored, their marriages saved, and their children rescued. We are sent to prevent people from being ruined by the sin, violence, broken homes, abuse, hopelessness, poverty cycles and addictions which are ravishing our neighborhoods and bringing forth a whole generation of orphans and widows. We are sent to teach people Jesus’ commands, set them free from false hope, man-made religion and cults and see them worship God in spirit and truth. We are sent to see them trust in Jesus and be reconciled to God and receive eternal life. The Redeemer has sent us out to proclaim his finished work of salvation and call people to repentance and reconciliation with the Lord of all. We are sent to prepare a people for the soon and glorious arrival of the Lord Jesus and the Kingdom of God.

As disciples of Jesus we are sent by God to connect the lost people of the SLV to Jesus Christ and his Kingdom.

What Is Your Treasure?

Most of our days we don’t stop and ask questions about our purpose or what the meaning of life is. It’s usually in a time of hardship or after we’ve achieved some goal that we slow down enough to ask “What’s the point of my life?” or reflect, “I thought once I got to the top, I’d be happier or feel content – why don’t I?”

In the words of J.I. Packer from his book Knowing God: “What were we made for? To know God. What aim should we set ourselves in life? To know God… Once you become aware that the main busines that you are here for is to know God, most of life’s problems fall into place of their own accord. The world today is full of sufferers from the wasting disease which Albert Camus focused as absurdism (“life is a bad joke”), and from the complaint which we may call Marie Antoinette’s fever, since she found the phrase that describes it (“nothing tastes”)… What makes life worthwhile is having a big enough objective, something which catches our imagination and lays hold of our allegiance, and this the Christian has in a way that no other person has. For what higher, more exalted, and more compelling goal can there be than to know God?”

“But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things” (Philippians 3:7-8).

We don’t often think like the Apostle Paul did, and while we can assent to what J.I. Packer wrote, most of us aren’t living with the goal of knowing God. Why not?

A writer named Skye Jethani, in his book With, reflects on why we settle for smaller and less important goals in life: “It has been my experience that when most people hear or think about God, they have a less than complete and sometimes entirely flawed, vision of who he is. As a result they do not tend to desire him At best they see him as a useful instrument for achieving something more desirous but if their vision were enlarged and corrected, if they could see his unrivaled beauty, grasp his unconditional love, perceive his radiant glory, and experience his untainted goodness, then it would become obvious that he is much more than a deity to simply tolerate or a device to employ. In other words, God would cease to be how we acquire our treasure, and he would become our treasure.”

What if we thought about Jesus as our treasure and made it the goal of our life to know him and be with him?  Given how great He is, it would be a goal worth living for. My we pursue Jesus, seek after Jesus and his Kingdom as passionately and seriously as we would in pursuing precious gold and jewels. If Jesus isn’t your treasure, what lesser thing is? Why live for what won’t ultimately satisfy when God invites us to know and experience him?  This is what you were made for!

“The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field. Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it” (Matthew 13:44-46).

REIGN YOUTH GROUP Wednesdays 6:30 – 8:00 p.m.

At the meetings the youth are encouraged to bring their friends to a night for social interaction, devotions, and a place they can get a godly perspective of issues they face on a day to day basis. The leaders of the youth have families of their own and can relate to the youth's life styles and questions. Walk Closely with Your God

Dear Church,

I pray you are walking closely with Jesus and that your fellowship is sweet. I pray that you are well and that God is glorified through you. Thank you for all you do in the name of our Lord Jesus and all the ways you show his love to others.

The Lord bless you and keep you;

the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you;

the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace

MONTHLY PRAYER MEETING BEGINNING!  2nd Wednesday of the Month at 6:30 P.M. in the Fellowship Hall

Join me for a time of interceding for our nation, for our community, for our church and for one another. We will meet with the Lord in worship and then bring our requests before the throne of grace. Our first meeting is this coming Wednesday, Feb 10 at 6:30 pm in the Fellowship Hall.

BUILDING PROGRESS

The building remains ahead of schedule and under budget. Please keep praying for the workers safety. Please keep asking the Lord to bless our second year fundraising goal. Thank you for your faithful giving. If you haven’t made a pledge or a contribution please consider giving to the building fund (see different giving options and anonymous giving information at www.bringinglifeproject.org). Walking around the 2nd floor this morning had me dreaming of the future! What a great tool we’ll have for ministry! Here’s some photos on the upstairs progress:

NEW MEMBERS WELCOME March 7

Living Water hit a milestone in our history as recently as our membership reached 200 people. During the March 7 services we’ll acknowledge and officially welcome those who have become members of the church over the last year.  If you are interested in joining the church please contact Pastor Bo This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to RSVP for the next membership class.

ANNUAL BUSINESS MEETING March 7

Our Annual Business Meeting will be IN-PERSON on Sunday, March 7. We’ll be voting on the 2021/22 church budget and electing church offices. If Living Water is your church you are invited to attend – we’re happy to have you!  We understand that some members might not be able to physically attend the meeting, so we will likely have a means for you to participate remotely. The current plan is to have the meeting after the 2nd Worship service. We likely won’t have a potluck this time around so we’re talking about options for food.

CONVERGE ROCKY MOUNTAIN TOGETHER TO TRANSFORM CONFERENCE March 13

Living Water is affiliated with a network of churches known as Converge Worldwide (https://www.converge.org) and our regional network is known as Converge Rocky Mountain (https://www.convergerockymountain.org/). Our regional conference is taking place virtually on Saturday, March 13. We usually send a couple church members as delegates to the meeting, but this year everything is online. Would you like to be a delegate representing Living Water at the business meeting? You’ll likely get a Zoom invite. If so please contact Janice at the office. 589-6351 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. We need to have our delegates selected by next week so they can send out hard copies of the budget and other motions to the delegates.

DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME begins March 14

PHISHING WARNING

On Tuesday someone sent out an email supposedly from me (Jeron) asking people to contact them. If you respond they will ask you to buy gift cards or money from you for “ministry.”  It’s a scam.  If you got such a message please report it.  Phishing definition: “The fraudulent practice of sending emails purporting to be from reputable companies or people in order to induce individuals to reveal personal information, such as passwords and credit card numbers.”

GOOD FRIDAY WORSHIP SERVICE April 2

EASTER WORSHIP SERVICES April 4

BAPTISM SUNDAY April 11

Baptism is a sign of one’s repentance and faith.  It is an act in which you publicly declare your trust and allegiance to Jesus.  Ideally it should happen soon after a person has made the decision to follow Jesus. Have you started following Jesus but haven’t yet been baptized?  The next baptisms will take place Sunday, April 11. Please contact Pastor Jeron (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. / 589-6351) if you are ready to obey Jesus in this area, or if you have questions.
