What is Waves
Waves uses the Church of the Nazarene curriculum for Children's Bible Quizzing. Children's Bible Quizzing is a Bible study for children ages 6 through 12 (USA grades 1-6). It is important to help children know what the Bible says so they can demonstrate biblical teachings in real life situations. Quizzing also teaches children about God.
There are six books in the Children’s Bible Quizzing study series that have been specifically chosen for children to gain an overarching understanding of the chronology and meaning of the Bible.
Each Bible study not only helps children understand this chronology, but the people in each lesson come to life as children learn about their humanity and God’s plan to make all things new. While God sometimes uses miracles to achieve His purposes, He often works in relationship with His beloved creation: people.
Here is the current cycle for Children's Quizzing:
- Acts (2018-2019)
- Genesis (2019-2020)
- Exodus (2020-2021) World Quiz Year
- Joshua/Judges/Ruth (2021-2022)
- 1 & 2 Samuel (2022-2023)
- Matthew (2023-2024)
The Philosophy & Purpose of Quizzing
The philosophy of Children’s Quizzing is Bible study. It is important to help children know what the Bible says and help them demonstrate biblical teachings in actual life situations. The goal of Children’s Quizzing is for children to know the God of the Bible.
The purpose of Children’s Quizzing Bible study and competition is to help children:
- Desire to study the Bible.
- Get acquainted with basic Bible study.
- Grow in understanding of the overall chronology of the Bible.
- Learn that God is the central character and Hero of the Bible.
- Gain increased understanding of God as He is revealed in each study.
- Understand how people in the Bible interacted with God, and know how people today may do so also.
- Enjoy quizzing competition.
- Grow in the ability to reflect Christian attitudes and behaviors during competition.
In Children's Bible Quizzing, each child challenges himself or herself to reach award levels. In this approach, children quiz against a base of knowledge, not each other. The multiple-choice method of competition allows every child to answer every question. This approach makes it possible for every child to score a perfect score.

What are our values?
High Impact (Christ-centered) - Lives will be changed for Jesus. Children will understand the importance of accepting Christ as their Savior and growing in a personal relationship with Him. Our highest priority is modeling Christ's love to children.
High Safety - The program will be 100% physically, emotionally, and spiritually safe. This means we place a high priority on child security and volunteer training.
High Energy (Child-targeted) - The program will be a fun and exciting place where kids want to be each Sunday. It will promote outreach because they will be excited to bring their friends to church.
High Engagement (Relational and Applicable) - The program will include small group time, which will allow kids to discuss and process what they learn and how to apply the Bible to their lives. Small group will provide fellowship, accountability, and prayer.
High Involvement - The program/curriculum will partner with and equip parents for continued learning throughout the program.Click here to register
Check In/Out Information
When bringing children to Waves, the adult responsible for each child is asked to fill in the necessary information on the sign in sheet provided. All children will be given a name tag and tag for their belongings. The name tags provide us with very important information such as food allergies, and special needs. When you arrive to pick up your child, make sure you gather all of their belongings.
Parents are encouraged to participate in the caring and teaching of our children. Our church takes large strides to make certain that our children are revered in the way Jesus intended, that coming to church is a happy occasion. We have a screening procedure for all people who have regular contact with our children. These procedures include criminal background checks and reference checks. Please contact Rosemary Bertin at 719-588-6304 or email firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to volunteer or if you have any questions/concerns.Click here to register
